Fingers, palms, strands of dropping hair. Dr. Dafna Nissim, a member of the Department of Arts at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, has a new exhibition on display at the Beit "Homa" gallery in Be'er Sheva. The exhibition showcases works that merge the experience of creating art with themes of bereavement and death.
In Halutza, Dafna Nissim is showing two video-art works, Forever Hairy (2011) and Polished (2011), and three series of staged and digitally manipulated photographs, Beauty Proposal (2010-11), Untitled (2011) and SketchBook (2011). In the series Beauty Proposal, Nissim’s photoshopped face assumes a look of hybrid creature with fluid, queer sexuality.
